Hey ladies,

I’m new here and have a question that I’m really hoping some of you can help with. I more or less just need to know if this is serious and something I should go to the hospital for tonight or wait until Monday and just see my gyno.

If it makes any difference, I’m 10 months pp. The last four days I have been bleeding, fairly heavily and my period isn’t due for another two weeks. Along with the bleeding I’ve had really bad cramps (left, right, and center) that come and go, along with some nausea and horrible headaches. Google says if you’re bleeding for more than two days between periods that you should go see someone. My boyfriend thinks as its approaching day four something is going on and wants to take me to the hospital. Is this something I should be seen for right away, or can I wait until Monday?

Thanks for any help.

I really have no idea of what this could be, but if the cramps and headaches are really bad you should definitely go see someone before monday. If anything, they will give you the right painkillers until you doctor looks at you.

Is any of that typical for you during your periods? This is not official medical advice, but if I were you, and the level of bleeding, pain, and other “side effects” was similar to my periods, I would not be too concerned. Sometimes periods act super weird and come early. If it is NOT similar to your periods, I would try to go to urgent care if possible. I don’t know that I personally would go to the ER in the middle of the night or anything, not unless I was experiencing symptoms of blood loss, infection, or unbearable pain.

Maybe there’s a nurse hotline you could call and see what they recommend? Sometimes insurance companies offer that service.

Just FYI, we try to avoid referring to community members as “ladies” since there are people who identify in lots of different ways and can be very helpful! Sometimes it is alienating to folks when ladies is used as a greeting. I usually use “folks” or “VPers” something similar as a more generic greeting.

In any case, I hope you feel better soon! And definitely go with your gut – if you start to feel very very ill, definitely seek care!
