Hi everyone! Me again.

So, for the past 3+ weeks I’ve been hospitalized twice for liver infections, and over the past week I’ve also contracted the flu. I’ve never had the flu before, but I’m guessing my body is so run down from the other illnesses that it couldn’t fight it off. I also have a PICC line in (a long term IV) for some strong antibiotics. I’ve been on those the entire time I was in the hospital, and for over a week at home. My period was triggered early while I was in the hospital – the nurse told me that when someone is extremely sick, that can sometimes either make a period start early, or end early. My period lasted about two weeks, which is very unusual for me, mine usually lasts about 5-6 days. I chalked it all up to being pretty freakin’ sick.

So onto my issue. Now, since I stopped my period, I have been having A TON of discharge. It’s the exact same texture and color as my regular ovulation discharge (white/clear with egg white consistency) but it won’t stop coming, and I’m not ovulating. It’s so bad that I’ll be standing there in my robe without underwear, and I feel it running down my leg. I never have this much discharge, and never out of nowhere. It’s also lasted much longer than usual. Is this my body trying to get rid the virus in every way possible? Is this normal?

tl;dr: Is it normal to have excessive (colorless, odorless) discharge when you’ve been extremely ill?

I think it’s definitely possible that it’s just because you were sick.

    Okay, thanks. :]

I think it’s normal. When I have a mucus-y illness, my nose AND vagina run everywhere. After all your body has been fighting, I personally wouldn’t worry too much about the discharge. 🙂

Great, thanks! It’s good to know I’m not the only one. 🙂

I know certain medications (Mucinex and Robitussen are two of them) can increase cervical mucous.. Maybe they gave you something with guafenisen in it. I remember all this from my baby-making days, but here: https://www.google.com/search?q=guafenisen&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=qZo&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&sclient=psy-ab&q=guafenisen+and+cervical+mucous&oq=guafenisen+and+cervical+mucous&aq=f&aqi=g-l1&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=6288l8539l0l8664l20l19l0l0l0l1l395l4173l0.9.5.4l18l0&gs_l=serp.3..0i13.6288l8539l0l8665l20l19l0l0l0l1l395l4173l0j9j5j4l18l0&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=bfbad756b3e0f08f&biw=1280&bih=605

I just got over a round of norovirus and I noticed that my discharge had increased a LOT over the course of my illness.
