For a while now I have noticed that I tend to bleed after masturbation or sex. I don’t tend to have penetrative sex. It is usually oral sex. Also when I masturbate I just stick to rubbing. In fact penetration is generally out of the question. Despite this I usually find spots of blood on my underwear afterwards.

Should I be worried?

I am sorry if this has been covered.

It may be that orgasm is pushing some blood out of your uterus. If you don’t usually involve penetration, then it seems less likely that your cervix is being bashed or you’re being scratched. Is there a pattern related to your period?

The only potential reason for worry is that some STIs can present with bleeding as a symptom. I don’t know how common this is, but if you haven’t been tested in a while, it’s a good excuse to go.

Maybe there are more ideas in this post?</a?

What do you mean by a pattern? Well it is sort of regular. Actually no. It is pretty irregular. It used to come every two weeks which it still does sometimes. I get spotting throughout the month too. I did go to the doctor and they suggested going on the pill but then decided it would be a bad idea as I would simply put on weight.

I am sure I do not have an STI. I did think about that but there is no where I could have got it from. I have only ever had one sexual partner who I am with at the moment. They too have only ever had one sexual partner (me of course) and I am sure that there has been no cheating or anything involved.

Thank you for the link. The only thing is the spots aren’t brown. They’re quite bright so I assume they are fresh.

    Thank you for your help!

I meant, does it happen more often right before your period or something like that?

If an STI is not likely, then maybe BV or yeast? I’m not sure if yeast could do this, but BV might. Bacterial vaginosis is not an STI, it’s the bacteria normally in your vagina just having a party.

It might be interesting to track the spotting and see if you just spot a lot anyway, regardless of sexual activity. It sounds like this is the case for you, so maybe the sex is just a red herring and not actually a trigger. If sex does look like a reliable trigger, then it might be worth another talk with your doc.

(Sidenote: The only hormonal birth control actually shown to correlate with weight gain is Depo Provera, the shot. So if you ever are contemplating the pill again, know that it’s definitely not a given, and you can reduce the possibility further by carefully selecting a pill that really works for you. Different hormone combos will give you different/less/no side effects.)

Not really. If it did I wouldn’t be too worried.

I doubt it is yeast but BV sounds plausible.

I do tend to spot in general but mostly after sexual activity. I should have to start keeping tabs on it.

I think I shall have to have a chat with my doctor about what can be done. I remember though, when I was very young I would spot. I must have been around three at the time. I did go to see a gynecologist and they just said it was very sensitive.

    Thank you so much!

Did the doctor suggest a blood test to check, in particular, your thyroid hormones? Irregular bleeding can be a symptom, and just throwing HBC at it can make other symptoms worse. (Weight gain and brainfog, to name two, are ones that might worsen if you are hypothyroid and take extra estrogen…)

The bleeding might just be that you have a particularly irritable cervix — but it would be good to check for BV or yeast, just in case.

I checked it all out. I checked for PCOS, thyroid and everything.

I am probably going to have to check with my doctor.

    Thank you!
