I know that water is the safest way to clean the vulva. However, I was just wondering if anyone here has had a bad reaction to feminine wash such as Summer's Eve, Vagisil, Intimore, etc. Do those types of washes irritate the urethra?

I use DivaWash and I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s super gentle, pH-balanced, all-natural, etc.

Thanks, I might try a bottle of this.

the way i’m built, i have to use *something* to wash with in addition to water. i have a fat cooter with a deep cleft, so lots of room for bacteria to party down and help create odor.

mostly i use baby wash all over me, but i’ve been known to grab the bar soap (yardley’s english lavender) and use that, too. i’ve not ever had any irritation from it, and i’m sure to rinse really well.

Yes. Definitely to a Summer’s Eve wash. Also to one sold on a sex toy site (I don’t remember either the site or the brand for that one). While they didn’t give me outright UTIs, they did give me external yeast that contributed to a sore urethral opening.

Was the Summer’s Eve the “sensitive skin” type?

Ugh, I’m dealing with a sore urethral opening now, because I wasn’t thinking the other day in the shower and used the soap where I shouldn’t have. Once it calms down, I wanted to try a feminine wash. I bought the CVS brand. I hope it doesn’t cause me irritation.

I would avoid any wash that lists “fragrance” or “perfume” as one of the ingredients.

I have used summers eve sensitive skin for years with no problem, and occasionally have been known to grab a bar of dove soap if i run out of my wash. I chose the summers eve because of my bad eczema so -knock on wood- i have had great success with it

I’d avoid the fragrances, as those are what usually cause irritation or contribute to YIs. I’ve never had a problem with the vinegar and water Summer’s Eve (and similar store brand) ones though.
