First the most painful one, I have been for the past two week been getting these tiny paper cut feeling cuts at the top of my outer Labia. It’s not bleeding, just painful. I can’t tell if it’s just one split or a bunch of little ones. It goes away on it’s own after a few days. (I applied some Aloe Gel this time as it hurt more today) What causes this? I’ve never had this happen before more than one time in a row. I am not on any medications or BC and am not sexually active.

Second; Er so..I’ve had this burning feeling around the outside of the vaginal opening and inside as well. It’s not as bad as it was & it only really hurts if there’s no lubrication if I happen to touch myself or something. Masturbation didn’t make it any worse, in fact today I think it kind of relived it if that makes any sense?? (it doesn’t to me) I don’t know. After said masturbation, this morning some pinkish, stretchy discharge came out, I’ve had that happen before but I thought I better mention it just in case. Other than that my discharge is normal. Any idea what it is? It doesn’t bother me unless I touch my skin so..should I just let it go? I’ve been nearly drowning myself in water to help clear out my system if it’s from something I’ve eaten but that hasn’t seemed to affect anything.

Last month I got extremely itchy to the point of bleeding (after itching, I couldn’t stand not itching) right before my period & my period starts in 5 days so maybe that has something to do with it?

Ok, last question! I’d really like to trim my hair some but I have sensitive skin to begin with, which is about 5 times more sensitive down there. I tried trimming (to about half the length) but as the hair grew back it itched like hell. I tried shaving a bit on the top of my Labia where it’s not as sensitive just to test & see how it went and that too itched like hell. I don’t dare to try anything else. Should I just let it be free~ so to speak? ha I don’t want to be completely bald, I just wanted the hair shorter as some of it grows ridiculously long.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

First and Second – It sounds like you may have a yeast infection. I get what feel like hundreds of tiny cuts on my labia after/during a yeast infection that itch and hurt like nobody’s business. My vaginal opening is also usually red and painful as well. Masturbation will sometimes make it all feel better for me because it’s distracting me, and because it scratches the itches down there at the same time.

As for the discharge, sometimes masturbating and orgasm can trigger some light spotting or discharge – this is really common. If I’m close to my period when I masturbate it almost always makes it start, or it will make me spot blood. I would assume that’s what your discharge might be.

Do you have any white discharge going on that you’ve noticed?

I would try eating a lot of plain yogurt, and also using it topically on your vulva to sooth the itching and to help heal the infection (someone else please let me know if you can also use plain yogurt vaginally, I haven’t before and don’t want to give incorrect information) or possibly get an over-the-counter yeast infection medication to use.

As for the hair removal, hopefully others will chime in. I always just shave with a Venus razor. Sometimes I’ll get some ingrowns here and there, but I shave so often that my skin doesn’t mind it. 🙂 Good luck!

You can use the yogurt vaginally.
I had an obnoxious YI I couldn’t get rid of a few weeks ago and wound up doing the following –

Mixing probiotics with yogurt in a spoon. I then sucked up all the yogurt/probiotic mixture into a syringe (no needle, of course, and with the plastic tip cut as flush with the top of the syringe as possible). I then used that vaginally and it really seemed to help clear it up.
Wear a pad with this treatment unless you want to wake up in a very messy puddle of yogurt. Ew! Also, I do this right before laying down to go to bed.
The probiotics, BTW, you can get at any health food store but MAKE SURE they’re the refrigerated kind.

That’s really odd. I’ve never had a non itchy YI before..

I don’t trim much. I don’t like furless genitals and I don’t have a lot of hair anyway. Because of the way my hair grows, it’s slightly longer right down the middle and sometimes I like to even it out with a pair of little scissors. You have to figure out what works for you. For me, if I cut that little bit too short, it itches, so I have to be careful not to trim it too short. I can’t cut anywhere else other than ther3 or I get itchy and rashy.

I agree that for the first two points it sounds like you might have a yeast infection going on. The Vulvapedia has some advice on how to treat them – good luck!

As for question about trimming, when I was still using pads I used to trim slightly just along the outer labia, in order to end up with less matted blood etc – but yes, I did find that there was a funny intermediate length that caught in underwear and was ITCHY AS ALL GET-OUT. These days I use a menstrual cup and don’t bother trimming, and am generally much happier as a result – though I should note that they don’t work for everyone, and I don’t know whether the reasons I trimmed are at all similar to your reasons!

I don’t have a tendency toward itchiness, but I did find that trimming a little was, curiously, more uncomfortable than trimming a lot. I used to trim as short as I could get it without shaving, and while that was time-consuming it didn’t cause discomfort problems. YMMV.
